How To Be A Stay At Home Mom With A Home Business

If you are a mom, then you already have a full time job with an endless amount of overtime hours. Even with all of the responsibilities that being a mom includes, some women decide to be a stay at home mom with a home business. This can be a very rewarding adventure and allows some additional cash flow into the household.

Being a stay at home mom with a home business takes a lot of dedication, patience and, most of all, determination. You will probably want to start out small and, time and interest permitting, work your way up to a larger business in the future. Because you will need to take frequent breaks throughout the day, it’s a good idea to select a business that is not completely demanding or time consuming. If possible, search for a business opportunity that offers part-time hours. This will give you plenty of time to spend with your children, but also give you the opportunity to do something for yourself and earn extra money in the process.

Being a stay at home mom with a home business is ideal for many women. The fact that you will be able to stay at home and still be a large presence in your children’s life is extremely important. Many parents do not want to leave their children with a nanny, babysitter or relative, so having one parent working at home is the perfect option for many families.

At first, it may be very challenging to balance home life with being a stay at home mom with a home business. It will be difficult to separate business from pleasure and your children may not understand why mommy is not available all the time. It’s a good idea to approach the transition slowly and take into consideration that your children will miss having you available 24/7. Every home business requires a computer so, if you are a stay at home mom with a home business, make sure that the computer is placed in the same room that your children are in. If they spend most of their time in the family room, place a desk in the corner and set up your office there. This will allow you to be near your children, keep a close eye on them and work at the same time. This may be challenging at first because the children will want your constant attention, but try to explain that their mom has some very important work to finish and assure them that you will spend time with them very shortly. Begin with 30 minutes of work at different times throughout the day, then plan an activity with your little ones. Gradually work your way up to longer periods of work throughout the day as the children adjust and will allow you the time to finish your work.

Being a stay at home mom with a home business will literally entail you taking on two jobs at once. It is a wonderful way, however, to spend time doing something that is just for you and can take you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life - even if only for a few minutes. Selling on internet auctions or babysitting are two very good starter businesses and can increase in volume in accordance with your time and desire.

Furnishing A Functional Home Office

If you are one of the millions of people (and more are being added every year) who work from home or even if you bring work home with you, you need to have a nicely furnished home office. Your plan for the office should be functional and comfortable; you want to combine the "get to work!" feel of the cubical with that relaxed feeling that can only come from working in the home.
Here are a few ideas we put together to help you achieve this.
  • Start from the entrance in! Believe it or not, a door can make a huge difference to the feel of your office. W recommend a door with a glass middle. This way, you can shut it for privacy without feeling as though you have lost contact with the rest of your house; catching a glimpse of your kids running by can really lower your stress level. Best of all, you won't have to put up with people knocking if you are on the phone; they can see that you can't be disturbed!
  • Buy an ergonomic desk. People who work at home tend to spend a lot of time on their computers, and it is absolutely critical that your desk and your entire computer set up is measured to prevent repetitive motion injuries. I prefer a desk that sits with at least two feet between the edges and the walls on either side, with enough room to slide a chair a little bit back and forth to shake the ideas out. There should also be room on the desk for the tower of your computer; you will probably need to access all those ports at some point, and it can be a real pain to get on the floor to do it every time!
  • Get an ergonomic chair! A nicely padded, adjustable chair can make you feel as though you aren't really working at all. In addition, it will help you to avoid future aches and pains.
  • Have a bulletin board. In many respects the computer has taken over many of the functions left to office "furniture". They include calendars which can be programmed to remind you of important dates and so on, but they can't keep pictures of your family and friends where you can see them as you work. These can be important parts of getting any working person through the day, so personalize your office a little bit with the addition of a bulletin board.
  • Bookcases along the walls. Even if you don't need a lot of books for reference at your job, having books lining the walls definitely gives the home office a professional feel.
  • Don't forget the waste paper basket!
Those are a few of the ideas that many people incorporate into their home offices which combine for a great combination of the professional and comfortable feels. Of course, some home offices will also include additional furnishing in order to communicate with customers and clients.

With so many reputable income sources for your home business ideas, you may choose to either operate a bona fide home based business, or simply work from home, even if you are not necessarily running a business. Yet if you truly want to make more than just a little pocket money, you will be wise to focus your attention on the residual income opportunities which abound online!

Just like a songwriter will make residual income from a work she or he created years ago every time it is played on the radio today, you can also build a business around an opportunity that will make you money for months and years to come! Finding programs that offer the potential for residual income is easy to do. A simple search with any search engine will bring you literally millions of websites that you can use for your research. Entering a multi-level marketing (MLM) business is of course the best method without question, and choosing a product with a future - such as nutritional supplements - is a winning method for not only finding a product that is in hot demand, but also a great home business startup idea for building a business which many others will be happy to join. As you sell the supplements and make a steady income, you eventually will begin to recruit promising prospects and groom them to become sales people just like you. Eventually, these sales people will go out and make good money selling the supplements, but you will keep a small percentage of their profits for yourself. Find enough recruits, and you will soon make enough money from the profits of your recruits that you can quit selling the product altogether and instead simply focus on recruiting and training new sales people.

In some cases individuals will seek to maximize their "home based business" income opportunities by signing up for several MLM opportunities that fall into the same general area of business. You will shorten your learning curve drastically, streamline your future training times, and thus have the opportunity to truly realize a good return on investment.

Of course, prior to signing on anywhere, you must research the company, product and market. Know what it is you are selling, and whether it is currently in hot demand or if the market is already saturated. In the same way, ensure that you are dealing with a reputable company which will make recruiting others easy and which features a generous compensation plan that will keep the money coming in. In this way you will find the best home based startup business ideas for building residual income.

Home Based Business – Running Your Business From Home

By: Sheila Nelson

Many people hesitate when starting a home based business because they are not sure they can run a business from home and take care of their family at the same time. One of the conveniences of having a home business is so you can be home with your children and take care of the things you normally would not be able to if you worked outside of the home. However, this can be difficult if you do not have two key elements in place.
.

Office Space
.

You must reserve office space for your home based business in your home separate from your living space. Let your family know where you will be working and you need to keep that space for your home based business. If you are able to reserve a room with a door, let them know you do not want to be disturbed when the door is closed because you are working. Make sure you have comfortable furniture so you can work for a few hours in your home office. If you are not comfortable in your home office, you may find yourself on the couch in the family room or sitting at the kitchen table trying to work your home based business. If you can keep your home business space separate from your living space, you will be able to stay organized in your home.
.

Work Hours
.

Decide what your work hours will be for your home based business. Just like working a 9 to 5 job, your home business should have office hours for you to work your business. It is very easy to find house work to do instead of working your business when you work from home so making a schedule will help organize your time. It may also help to make your schedule available for your family to see so your family will know your work schedule for a given day. Note the times you really do not want to be disturbed, like when you know you will be on a conference call or making business calls. It is also a good idea to note when you will spend time with your family on your schedule as well. They will see your schedule and feel good that you did not forget about their school events or night out at the movies you promised them. Setting work hours for your home based business and sticking to them is a good way to make sure you are running your home business and running your household efficiently.
.

Having both of these key elements planned and in place will help you have a greater chance for success with your home based business. Also, involving your family in the decision for both elements is a good idea to give them a sense of involvement in your home based business. It is important to make your home business something that your entire family will be able to live with because they will play a part in your success by helping you stick to your work hours and keep your office space for your business.

A home business does not only allow minimal capital but it also creates savings for the businessman. The savings can be in the form of your budget for fuel, working clothes, vehicle depreciation and time which would be otherwise expended if you work somewhere else.If you work for someone else, you get a fixed amount every month no matter the amount of effort you exert in your work. 1. The best home based business idea is one for which you feel the most comfortable with and are passionate about. The business idea must match your interests, so that you will enjoy working on it consistently. What are your interests? What products or services would you enjoy marketing, and be confident representing? By answering these questions, you will be able to identify what is the best home business idea for you. If you are passionate about your online business and the products or services you represent, then you will easily work hard at it, and you will easily succeed.
.

2. The best home based business idea must be a business that gives you a repeating income and does not rely solely on your own efforts. This is called residual income, and it means that for the effort you make today, you will continue getting paid for many years to come. Home based businesses with residual income give you any opportunity to earn money through sub-affiliates. Instead of making your online wealth from 100% of your own efforts, you can make it from 1% of 100 sub-affiliates. This means that as you continue growing your business, you will be building on the amount of money you will be earning in the future from your business.
.

3. The best home business idea is one which gives you multiple streams of income. Some business opportunities have multiple stream of income which allows you to earn money from various streams. An example of a good online business can be a combination of several affiliate programs which are in one ‘business opportunity package’, so that by simply promoting your business, you are growing various income streams.

They have minimal investment requirements and some very good ones come with a step-by-step guide to help you start making money with the affiliate programs. As your skills and experience develops, then you can start on other more advanced ways of making money online.
.

6. The best home business is one for which you can have a well executed marketing plan to grow that business opportunity. How you market any business can make or break that business, so the marketing plan you have for your business – whatever it is - and how effective that marketing plan is, will determine how good your online business will be for you. How you decide to promote what you choose to do online will make the difference. Key factors will be your marketing skills as well as your budget.
.

7. The best home business is one for which you will commit to work on consistently to grow it. The key to making an online business succeed is to work the opportunity every day without fail, and to stick to it. A lot of people come across good online business opportunities, but most of them quit before finding financial freedom, and they jump onto the next online business opportunity. This is mainly because the internet is full of ‘business opportunities’ some of which are scams, and also, some wealth seekers think that there are some easy and quick ways to make money online. Pick a proven online business that suits your interests and experience, focus on it long enough, do not get distracted, and you'll make money.
